Central Bureau of Investigation, is a premier investigating police agency in India. Headquartered in New Delhi, India, CBI derives the power to investigate from the Delhi Special Police Establishment (DSPE) Act, 1946. During the World War II, in the Year 1941, Special Police Establishment (SPE) was formed to enquire into allegations of bribery and corruption in the war-related procurements in the Department of War, of British India. In 1963, the Special Police Establishment (SPE) was renamed by the Government of India as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and was entrusted with the responsibility to investigate serious crimes.

Central Bureau of Investigation works relentlessly and systematically with the motto of Industry, Impartiality and Integrity, to combat corruption in all its dimensions. Over the past 60 years, the agency has evolved from an anti-corruption agency to a multi-faceted, multi-disciplinary central police law enforcement agency with capacity, reliability and legal authority to investigate and prosecute offences across India. The agency has achieved excellence in investigating all types of crimes such as economic crimes, body offences, cases of transnational bribery and cyber offences. With an enviable conviction rate, the organization enjoys the trust of the people, Parliament and Judiciary.

Over the years, the Central Bureau of Investigation has immensely contributed in improving transparency and good governance by encouraging and inculcating integrity among public servant in the country.

The Central Bureau of Investigation serves as the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol for India and is also the Authorized Agency of the Central Government to investigate computer related crimes.

To commemorate the 60th year of the foundation of Central Bureau of Investigation, a commemorative coin is released.

The obverse of the Commemorative Coin of Rs 60 denomination consists of the Ashoka Lion Emblem with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते with the text “रूपये “and “Rupees” and the legend “भारत” and “INDIA” at the top. The reverse of the coin contain the logo of CBI with the legend “केंद्रीय अन्वेषण ब्यूरो and “हीरक जयंती वर्ष” in Devanagri Script and “Central Bureau of Investigation” and “Diamond Jubilee Year” in English with the year 1963-2023 below.
