Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad, Gujarat. He was a key leader in India’s fight for independence. A lawyer by training, he was strongly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas of nonviolence and peaceful protest. Patel earned the title “Iron Man” for his strong leadership and determination.
As India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, he played a vital role in uniting over 500 princely states, helping create a united India. His work laid the foundation for the country’s unity and inclusion. Patel also fought for farmers’ rights and made important changes in agriculture.
Many places and monuments have been created to honor him, with the Statue of Unity being the most famous. It’s the tallest statue in the world and stands as a tribute to his legacy. He passed away on December 15, 1950, but his contributions and vision continue to inspire people today.
