Shri Harakh Chand Nahata was born on 18th July, 1936 at Bikaner (Rajasthan) in an illustrious and wealthy family. His father, Shri Bhairudan Nahata was a successful businessman and a social worker and his mother, Smt. Durga Devi was a pious, kind hearted and a generous woman.

Shri Harakh Chand Nahata was born on 18th July, 1936 at Bikaner (Rajasthan) in an illustrious and wealthy family. His father, Shri Bhairudan Nahata was a successful businessman and a social worker and his mother, Smt. Durga Devi was a pious, kind hearted and a generous woman.

After completing his schooling at Bikaner, he went to Calcutta to pursue his college education. Alongwith his college education, he started his business career. He contributed a lot for the development of Cinema in Eastern India by taking over Technicians Studio, Kolkata. He revived it by infusing necessary and adequate funds and upgradation of equipments and facilities. Many acclaimed Directors like Stayajit Ray, Hrithwik Ghatak, Basu Bhattacharya etc. produced films at Technicians Studio.

He successfully managed his family’s business establishments situated in different parts of the country like Silchar, Karimganj, Gwalpara, Chapad, Baburhat, Bolpur, Hathras, Bikaner, Kolkata, Kanpur, Mumbai etc. and expanded and diversified the business and attained great success at an early age. Moving his base from Kolkata to Delhi, he ventured into Real Estate business and in a short span of time, he turned into a big player in this field and earned respect in the trade circles due to his forthright and honest dealings.

He was a leading social leader and Philanthropist, who generously contributed to many worthy causes. He was associated with more than 60 organizations in different capacities and made positive contributions to their working. He was the National President of Akhil Bhartiya Shri Jain Shwetamber Khartargachha Mahasangh the apex National organization of Khartargachha Jains.

For his multi-faceted contributions to the Society as well as trade and commerce, he was honoured by the Vice President of India and Lt. Governor of Delhi. He was felicitated by citations and Awards like “Udyog Vyapar Ratna’, ‘Jin Shashan Bhakt “Shresthivarya”, “Man of the Year’, ‘Jin Gaurav’, “Vishwa Manav Gaurav’ etc.

Living a full and contented life, he breathed his last on 21. February, 1999 at New Delhi after a brief illness.
